On Thursday, December 18th, the Boys & Girls Club of Chester hosted its Annual Winter Holiday Celebration, a heartwarming community tradition dedicated to ensuring local youth experience the joy, comfort, and magic of the holiday season—at no cost to families.
Each year, this signature event reflects BGCC’s commitment to serving youth and families across the city of Chester and Delaware County, PA, by removing barriers and meeting both emotional and essential needs during the holidays.
A Night of Celebration & Smiles
More than 200 children and teens were treated to a festive evening that included a holiday dinner, a live magic show, and the opportunity to shop at our beloved Holiday Toy Market—a unique experience that allows members to choose gifts that they need and truly bring them joy.
The Holiday Toy Market featured gifts for all ages, from young children to teens, including:
Board games, dolls, books, and puzzles
Footballs, basketballs, race cars, and Legos
Drink tumblers, headphones, and gift cards
And so much more!
Beyond toys, BGCC ensured members were prepared for the winter season. Youth received winter coats, undergarments, and essential hygiene items such as soap, deodorant, and personal care products—thanks to our partners at Feed The Children & Price Rite.
Powered by Community Generosity
This impactful evening was made possible by the incredible generosity of BGCC’s donors, partners, and volunteers. We extend heartfelt thanks to:
Project W for donating gift cards, hats, scarves, gloves, & socks
Everest Urgent Care for providing reusable shopping bags for our youth
Power Home Remodeling for the donation of bookbags with school supplies.
Zetas for volunteering, serving food, giving out toys, and cleaning up.
Philips for the donation of toys
El Elyon Church of the Most High God of Upper Darby for their generous donations of over 80 shoe box gift packs with a variety of toys, games, activities, socks, hats & gloves.
Dereck Mosley and Jill Bennett, and Vendors from the Winter Pop-up Fair, and the many community members and volunteers whose kindness helped fill the Holiday Toy Market
Special Community Highlights
A special shoutout goes to the Philadelphia Union for inviting BGCC members and their families to the WSFS Sports Complex for a memorable day of fun, where they had dinner and activities for the kids, and gave them all a toy. The Philadelphia Union also gave our members & their families food baskets with whole turkeys, canned and boxed foods to take home.
We also extend deep appreciation to our annual Santa, Mark Freeman, Board Chair of BGCC, and Local Union 413 for their continued support of the Winter Holiday Celebration year after year.
