On any given Friday night in Chester, something powerful is happening inside the Boys & Girls Club of Chester.
While the streets can feel uncertain for many teens, inside BGCC, you’ll find laughter, music, mentorship, and something every young person deserves—a safe place to simply be themselves.
This is the heart of BGCC’s VIP (Violence Intervention & Prevention) Program—a program built not just to keep youth safe, but to help them grow into confident, capable leaders.
Where Safety Meets Opportunity
For many teens, weekends can be the most vulnerable time. That’s why BGCC created “Club Friday” Teen Nights—a space where 70 to 100 young people come together to connect, create, and unwind in a positive environment.
You’ll see teens learning music production, playing sports, gaming with friends, creating art, or just talking and enjoying a hot meal. It may seem simple—but for many, this space is life-changing.
And now, BGCC is taking it a step further.
By extending Club Friday hours until 9:00 PM, the Club is filling a critical gap—keeping teens safe, engaged, and off the streets during the hours they need it most.
Because sometimes, having somewhere to go can make all the difference.
Helping Teens See What’s Possible
But the VIP Program isn’t just about keeping youth busy—it’s about helping them see a future they can believe in.
Through the Future Leaders Career Exploration Program, teens are introduced to opportunities they may have never imagined. They visit colleges, explore careers, meet professionals, and start asking big questions:
What do I want my future to look like?
What am I capable of?
For older teens, it goes even deeper. Some step into roles as paid Junior Counselors, gaining real work experience, learning responsibility, and building confidence—all while earning a stipend and being mentored along the way.
These moments don’t just build resumes—they build purpose.
Keeping the Momentum Going Year-Round
Growth doesn’t stop when summer ends—and neither does BGCC.
With expanded Saturday programming, teens now have a consistent place to go throughout the school year. Saturdays at BGCC blend fun with real-life skills—offering workshops on leadership, financial literacy, and personal development, alongside recreational activities that keep youth engaged.
It’s a space where teens are encouraged, challenged, and supported every step of the way.
And just as importantly, it’s a place where they’re seen.
Bigger Than a Program
The VIP Program is about more than activities or schedules. It’s about changing the direction of a young person’s life.
It’s about giving a teen a safe place instead of the streets.
A mentor instead of negative influence.
A vision for their future instead of uncertainty.
But programs like this don’t grow on their own—they grow because of people who care.
How You Can Be Part of the Impact
Every extended hour, every workshop, every opportunity BGCC provides is made possible by supporters who believe in Chester’s youth.
When you donate, you’re helping create safe spaces and life-changing opportunities.
When you volunteer, you’re becoming part of a young person’s story.
And when you show up for this community, you’re helping shape a future where every child has the chance to succeed.
